Umno Youth urges MACC to investigate money politics in Pas

KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 (Bernama) -- Umno Youth deputy chief Datuk Razali Ibrahim has asked the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate allegations of money politics in the run up to PAS party elections next month.

"The statement by PAS spiritual leader, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz (Nik Mat) and allegations made by PAS Dewan Ulama head (Datuk Mohamed Daud Iraqi) regarding money politics confirm that it exists in the party," he told Bernama.

Nik Aziz, who is Kelantan Menteri Besar, was reported as saying that he was disappointed that the activities also occurred in PAS.

He was quoted as saying that, "My advice is, if a candidate gives us rewards, accept it, if we are given cloth, we wear it, given a cow, slaughter it; but don't vote for him."

Last week, Mohamed Daud claimed that there were elements of corruption in the party as there were candidates who had been giving clothings and holding functions for party members.

Razali said both PAS leaders were under no pressure when making the statement and that the allegations should be investigated by the MACC.
